New trucks! Backfilling, framing and sunsets, oh my!

Lots of action today on the house. We even got to watch the workers working for awhile. Jeff went out at lunch and talked to the digger man (otherwise known as the excavation subcontractor). He was planning to finish the backfilling today. When the boys and I got there about 4:45, he was still hard at work, but almost done.

The boys were super excited to watch the small digger push dirt around in our future garage. They also got to see the dump truck put a new load of dirt on the lot. Spencer said that he wants to drive the digger and the forklift when he grows up. I think that is a much better choice than being a dragon, which was what he was saying last week.

I also talked to one of the framers who was there to start putting in the subfloor and eventually the walls of the house. He said it would take about 9 days to frame a house our size. He said they will really get going tomorrow after the backfilling is done. Oh yes, in case any woman from the neighborhood is reading this, definite hunk alert! You may just want to make sure your morning walk goes down Glen Abbey!

As we were walking around on the lot, the next door neighbors came home. We went over there and watched the digger action from their lawn and played a little in their sandbox. The boys are already fast friends. Spencer saw him and screamed his name at the same time as the boy screamed Spencer's name. It was almost like a slow motion movie scene as they ran towards each other, except that instead of embracing, they just picked up clumps of dirt and began throwing the clumps at the forklift.

The last couple pictures in the slideshow is the view from the beach at our condo during sunset tonight. Gorgeous!
